It is an excellent edition for the true U2 fan. Do not include anything unusual yet elegant enough and with plenty of material not heard before about these great guys from Ireland.
And I like the poster featuring a super-early image of the band. The mini-books that house the remastered album, bonus disk and booklet for each release is supurb and super-solid. I'm thinking about getting it pressed on some foam backing to get the folds out. The sound, to my ears, is impeccable. The bonus material is always at least interesting and often quite excellent. Highly recommended. Check out my reviews of each deluxe album included in this set on their individual listings.
The package came to my house in time, so in that area is good the service, besides, it comes in perfect state.First when i opened the box and saw the box set it was amazing. i Really like it the way of the package and it was terrific, the sound quality it's great and the B-sides is the best cause i'm kind of new in the u2 world so it come in handy to ear old songs in a complete new form. i guess until the new release of No Line in the Horizon, the best u2 album by far.aaaa. the bonus is the Poster, how rocks incredible, looks vintage and that gave extra points to the Box Set.
For what was asked for this product, I do not feel it lived up to it's worth. Delivery was fine, everything was there, the box was in good shape, but I feel that the box itself could have been put together a lot better. Probably more than the music. As for the actual music, I was a little bit disappointed with it. I think that the studio version got played enough, thanks. Yes, the price. I love packaging as much as I do the actual music inside, that's why I'm a collector. I wasn't too thrilled about that.
So that knocks some points off for me. The books, however, I did enjoy. I bought this Deluxe Edition as soon as it became available and I was excited when it came in the post. I've listened to the War Bonus disc maybe all of once or twice. Who really needs that many versions of New Year's Day. My last complaint is the price. quality over quantity, my friends. 6 Discs enclosed in hardback books with a poster would warrant a price like this, but like I tend to say.
Sometimes, when I am moving and organising my things, the little books containing the discs tend to slip right out, onto the floor and the box itself could be easily crushed. The remastering is OK at best and the bonus material leaves a lot to be desired, though I will say I do frequently listen to the Boy and October bonus discs. I already own all three albums and admittedly, I was lacking the bonus material, which helped me in deciding whether or not to buy this release, or just save my money for a more worthy release, like the Under a Blood Red Sky remaster. The upgrades to the music are nice, but not enough for me to rave over and the bonus material, most notably on the War end of things, was very disappointing to say the least. The price is awfully steep for what's inside and the box looked to me like not much thought had gone into it at all. I feel it could have been much better than it was - especially for what it cost.
The U2 Deluxe Edition Box Set [Amazon.com Exclusive] is a nice score. I got this as a gift for my dad and it contained some worthwhile additions to just buying them all seperatly.
